In the intensive we keep a simple filter: if price leaves a well-watched range and the breakout bar’s volume sits below the recent session average, we treat the move as provisional. Momentum oscillators often disagree — they can look energetic simply because price travelled quickly on few transactions.

What we ask students to mark

  1. The range high or low that everyone already sees
  2. Volume on the breakout bar versus a ten-bar average
  3. Whether the next two bars add participation or fade

The point is not to forbid every thin breakout. The point is to notice when you are trading a headline without evidence of hands. Students who write that observation into their thesis tend to size smaller — or wait — instead of inventing a story after entry.
